New Toy #2

I finally bit the bullet and got round to upgrading my old Canon 30D to a Canon 5D mkII.
The difference is immediately noticable - the colours are crisper, the screen sharper, the low light ISO handling is so much better. It really complements my 24-70L lens and I'm kicking myself for not upgrading sooner, though it took me a while to build up the courage to tell my wife. My poor old 30D is now resigned to my kit bag as a backup.

Only drawback.. 21 mexapixel images are a tad more processor and memory hungry than the 8 mexapixel I was working with before.

Purton Strobist Shoot

This weekend I joined up with a few members of the Bristol strobist group for a trip to Purton boat graveyard in Gloucestershire.

We started just after 8pm to catch the sunset on what turned out to be a beautiful evening.

Thanks to a mixture of great light and subtle flash use, the pictures turned out really great! And thanks also to our models Marina (pictured below) and Hannah for patiently posing in the rapidly chilling outdoors!

Nick and DeAnne

Later in April, I helped out my good friend Albert Palmer by second shooting the wedding of Nick and DeAnne.

A lovely couple, thanks for helping me hone my skills, and thanksto Al for letting me tag along. A long day, but worth it :)

Marc and Jo

This April, I was lucky enough to take pictures of the wedding of my good friends, Marc and Jo.

I've known these two for 16 years now (Marc was my room-mate in my first year of University) and a nicer couple you really couldn't meet!

The weather was perfect, the day - fantastic. The service in a beautiful, tiny church in a small, picturesque village, followed by a reception in a marquee in the Bride's Father's field.

They both looked so happy - a huge congratulations to them both (I know Jo had been waiting for this wedding for about 15 years!)
